1. Bombed UN House Renovaton To Be Completed In Six Months
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Permanent Secretary, John Chukwu, yesterday assured the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban ki-Moon, of the commitment of the Federal Government to complete and handover the damaged United Nations, (UN) Common Building in six months.
Chukwu gave the assurance after laying of wreath in honour of the 23 victims that died in the unfortunate bomb attack on the UN House on August 26, 2011.He said the Federal Government would do everything possible to avoid further delay.
His words: “The contractors already said they would need between five to eight months to get the job fixed but I have asked them to fast track their approach by working 24 hours to get it done within 5 months.”
According to him, “we cannot afford to delay here anymore, this project is very important, because Nigeria government is committed to its obligations”.
2. Pregnant woman, Five Others Killed In Damaturu Twin Explosions
Six people, including two suspected suicide bombers, have died in two bomb explosions that occurred on Tuesday in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.
Yobe Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Toyin Gbadegeshin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Gbadegeshin said three others were in critical condition, while 40 others, who sustained various degrees of injury, had been taken to hospitals in the area.
He said one of the explosions involving a female suicide bomber of about 12 years of age, happened at the entrance of the Damaturu main motor park.
“The girl detonated the explosive at the screening centre of the motor park gate, killing herself and four others, including a pregnant woman and a baby.
3.   Inspector General Of Police Redeploys Four DIGs
THE Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, has reassigned four Deputy Inspectors-General (DIGs) of Police, who will now head other departments and formations as the agency repositions for more efficiency.
In a statement yesterday, the Police Spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, said the postings took immediate effect, while six other DIGs would remain in their previous postings.
