Reynaldo Hewlett charged for alleged theft

On August 19, 2015 police arrested and charged Reynaldo Hewlett, 33, of Brewers Bay for alleged burglary. This is just a few months after he was given a second chance at returning to society to complete rehabilitation and lead a life as a valuable citizen of society. Photo: VINO/File

Previously the young Hewlett had spent some time in prison as he had stolen $10, a ginger ale and a ginger beer. What he is accused of allegedly stealing this time around is not known to this news site as no further information as it relates to his arrest was made known in the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force’s most recent arrest blotter.
Hewlett, in March of 2015, was sent to join the Drug Rehabilitation Unit of Peebles Hospital on the recommendation of Senior Magistrate Tamia N. Richards who had expressed her deepest hope of seeing him getting a grip on his life as she noted his level of intelligence and his willingness to access rehabilitation.
Back in March Ms Richards, through the court of law, collaborated with Peebles Hospital via Dr June Samuels to have Hewlett attend the facility, which he completed over a three-week period.
He had later returned to the court where it was reported that he was deemed fit to return to his family as he continued rehabilitation. Hewlett's father, Mr Paul A. Hewlett had stood up in the court and expressed that as a father he had loved his child and wanted nothing but to see him rehabilitate.
He had, however, noted that it was incumbent on his son to cooperate with his family in the process of the rehabilitation and to stay away from certain elements that could negatively influence him.
It is not clear when Mr Hewlett will have his day in court.
