Boko Haram War: Kano To Admit Additional 100 Orphans From Borno

Kano state government has said that it would admit additional 100 orphans from Borno state, who were orphaned as a result insurgency, into the Kano – Borno boarding primary school.
The government had established the school in April 2015, with an initial intake of about 100 internally displaced orphans.
During an inspection of the school’s facilities, the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, added that “the state government would sponsor the education of the orphans up to university level.”
The governor also received food items and learning materials donated to the school by the Kano State Automobile Dealers Association,
Dr. Ganduje expressed satisfaction over the condition of the orphans, thanking organizations and well-meaning individuals for supporting the government in taking care of the children, noting that without good care, the children would have strayed and constituted a social burden.
The governor thanked the Automobile Dealers Association for their compassion, appealing to others to emulate the gesture. He promised that the donation would be properly utilized.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the association, Amb. Mukhtar Gashash, said they decided to offer the donation to the pupils in order to complement the efforts of the state government, adding that they also made similar gestures to many less privileged people as part of their social responsibility to the community.
Earlier, the state Commissioner of Women Affairs, Barr. Zubaida Damakka Abubakar, said the orphans were very proud of the state government which had taken care of their basic needs while commending the headmaster and the staff of the school for their commitment.
