These are 9 things Dagrin would’ve achieved if he were alive in 2017

 

                              

It’s been seven long years since Dagrin died, but his legacy remains engraved in our memories.
Barack O’Grin as he was fondly called was involved in a ghastly accident on April 14, 2010, just as he was mounting the ladder of greatness after several years of hustling.

But have you ever wondered what the late rapper would’ve engaged in if he was alive in 2017?
In remembrance of his achievement as an indigenous rapper, we have the following listed.

First off, he would’ve introduced the likes of Olamide, Reminisce, CDQ and the rest to us.

                         

Not that Dagrin started indigenous rap in Nigeria, but he was one of the pioneers of the new school indigenous rap.

So it’s only right he would have brought out the likes of Olamide, Reminisce, CDQ or even Lil Kesh –  and all of this would’ve happened with just one feature in either a song or video.

At least four albums are guaranteed.

                                       

Maybe he wouldn’t be dropping albums every year as Olamide, but the late rapper would have pushed out at least four studio albums.

These albums would’ve made him an undisputed king in the rap music scene.

He would’ve done anything to get a 50 Cent feature

                                              

While the rapper was alive, he mentioned in various interviews that he was a big fan of 50 Cent – and as a matter of fact, the American rapper was his biggest inspiration.

Now, going by the way Nigerian artistes have been getting international recognition, it’s only right we would’ve heard a Dagrin-50 Cent joint or at worst a collaboration being in the works.

Cult following on social media

Even till date, Dagrin still has a cult following on the streets. This is amongst people who don’t even use social media as much. His Twitter account was gradually becoming famous before he died.

Let’s say if he was still alive, his Twitter account should have over 1.5 million followers, and Instagram with at least two million followers. His works would’ve been easier to distribute via social media.

Won more Headies than any indigenous rapper with at least one MTV Africa award.

                   

The Headies wouldn’t be much of a problem for Dagrin – seeing as he would have a shelf full of the accolade. But the debate is if he would have won an MTV Africa Music award?

Well, if the likes of South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest who infuses local language in his rhymes can, its shouldn’t be a problem for Dagrin as well.

A rap beef would’ve ensued with a rapper Nigerian rapper

                                           

Ever wondered if Dagrin would’ve had any beef with a Nigerian rapper? Well, it is very possible a rap beef would’ve taken place – with M.I most especially. These two would’ve been at loggerheads over who is the king of Nigerian rap.

While Dagrin would be the voice of the street and all that comes with it, M.I Abaga would be that ajebutter rapper for the elites.

That said, they were sort of close and even collaborated on joints, but it is still very possible they would’ve had one or two arguments over time.

His label, Misofunyi Entertainment would be a bigger YBNL

                

Seeing how Olamide has helped raise talents from his YBNL label? Same could be said for Dagrin.

The late rapper could’ve signed a bunch of indigenous rappers, who knows Olamide might just be one of his first signees.

Although Misofunyi Entertainment ran for about two years after the rapper died – but so far, nothing has been heard from the runners.

Making Sossick and YQ into big shots!

Like, we would’ve been chasing these guys for interviews while artistes chase them for collabos.

Sossick produced Dagrin’s world famous C.E.O album and churned out hits like ‘Pon Pon’, ‘Ghetto Dreams’, ‘Kondo’, ‘Mo Ti Gboro’ and more.

Singer, YQ was his best friend, and with hit songs like ‘Fimile’, they would have countless more hits together.

Have actual sold out concerts, in stadiums, from Lagos to South Africa and beyond

You recall Jay Z‘s lines on Kanye‘s ‘Never Let Me Down’ where he goes, ‘First I snatched the streets, then I snatched the charts · First I had they ear, now I have they heart’?

That’s the line Dagrin was toeing at the point he met his unfortunate demise in 2010.

He had that charisma to carry a crowd along and we reckon the National Stadium would have been what the Convention Centre is to most artistes these days.

Akogun would’ve been epic if he were alive in 2017!
