Her Child Complained Thinking It Was Poison Oak But It Was Something Much More Worse

Zachary was itchy after school, but it just got worse with a rash and fever by the next day.

Zachary's mother, Mandy Suzanne Smith took him to the doctor, who thought the boy had a viral infection, but the medicine that he prescribed didn't work. When Zachary got worse, she took him back to the doctor and it was found that he had Stevens Johnsons Syndrom (SJS) that burns its victims from the inside out.

Smith said ... “We never even thought what was going on with him could have been an allergic reaction because he had been on it for 12 days. So I thought surely if he was having some type of reaction to it then it would have happened the first night that he had taken it. I was giving him the very thing that was killing him and had no idea.” very thing that was killing him and had no idea.”

Zachary was transported to Boston's Children's Hospital, where he spent 4 days, where doctors told Smith that the SJS had turned into TENS.

The boy was airlifted to another hospital, as his skin began coming off, causing him to cry in pain the entire ride.

Zachary was put into a medically induced coma at the hospital in order for them to operate and remove his skin, wrap in biobrane, and place him in bed to wait for his skin to grow back. “A few hours later they allowed me to come back into the icu room and see him. He had been put into a coma, was completely wrapped up from head to toe, and had tubes everywhere, with a machine breathing for him. I broke down. I was so overwhelmed and just could not believe that this was actually happening. The only question I could ask the doctor was “is he going to make it?” And when his answer was “I don’t know” that killed me even more. I needed reassurance. I needed to hear “yes, he is going to be okay”

While in his coma, Zachary said he was greeted by a angel named Samson, who held him the entire time. “If that’s not the work of then I just don’t know what is. I know that we all think nothing like this can ever happen to us or our children, but it can. You never know what situation you might find yourself in, but no matter the situation, give it to . He is mighty and he is faithful and he will be there.”
