The snaggletooth, half-blind monster gator lurked along a canal bank in Southwest Ranches on Wednesday morning — mere feet from an oblivious jogger and near two schools. Sure, the strong-jawed reptiles are synonymous with South Florida, but this 11-foot, 450-pound alligator was massive enough to cause a stir. Davie police, who respond to incidents in Southwest Ranches, arrived at about 10 a.m. to subdue the gator with the help of a licensed trapper. The male gator was found near a bike trail along a canal in the area of Griffin Road and Bonaventure Boulevard, about two blocks away from Falcon Cove Middle and Cypress Bay High schools, authorities said.
