Sheriff's captain saves owl from barbed-wire fence

Sheriff's captain saves owl from barbed-wire fence

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA (CBS46) - Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Captain "Chuck" Smith was out riding his bike on the Big Creek Greenway with his wife when they came across an injured Barred Owl tangled in a barbed-wire fence.
After freeing the owl, Captain Smith realized it was too injured to fly.
They quickly took the owl to meet up with an Animal Control deputy. The deputy helped get the owl to the Chattahoochee Nature Preserve where it can be cared for and rehabilitated.
The owl will hopefully be returned in three or four months to within one mile of where Captain Smith rescued it from.
The young owl did manage to do some damage to Captain Smith's finger during the rescue.
